7,322 centenarians recieved P100,000 cash award each for reaching 100-years old

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to honor the contributions of Filipino centenarians, both in the Philippines and abroad, by facilitating the P100,000 centenarian gift as mandated by Republic Act No. 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016.

A total of 7,322 Filipinos who have reached the age of 100 years old have already received their one-time PHP100,000 cash award from the national government.

“We in Congress are absolutely committed to sustain the funding for the PHP100,000 cash gift of all Filipinos who reach the age of 100 years old, whether residing in the Philippines or abroad,” anakalusugan party-list Rep. Michael Defensor said.

Defensor said the PHP135.8 million is lodged in the budget of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), which hands out the cash grant.

Under the said law, all Filipinos who reach 100 years old, whether residing in the Philippines or abroad, will be honored with a Letter of Felicitation from the President of the Philippines congratulating the celebrant for his or her longevity; and a centenarian gift in the amount of ₱100,000.
